Sunset at the Rock

More than 70 years ago - our flag and our fighting men and women surrendered to the Japanese after brutal months trying to halt the juggernaut of the Imperial Army of Japan. The legendary stand at Bataan and Corregidor temporary put a road block to Japan's war timetable, thereby affording Australia to set up its defense against the rampaging warriors from the land of the rising sun. Present-day. The only sun you would see from the rock fortress island of Corregidor is this beautiful sunset. Atop a hill where former battery guns of the US army tried in vain to counter-pounce the enemy during WWII, but now serves as pieces of a landmark, ought to remind current and future generations of the heroism that were displayed in this island many years ago.
