There is no shortage of colorful photographs of people in festive mood during the Dinagyang Festival. This coming January, its sure to be another riotous day, rick rolling and thumping to the beat. It is one of the most popular and liveliest Festivals in the country. I was fortunate enough to witness it two years ago. The choreography and the costumes of the various tribe contingents, are always a must-see. Like face-painted, masked warriors from consecutive lifetimes ago, one would feel the gravity and danger of battle within. But once the drum starts to beat, a new kind of feeling ensued. The men aren't really there for war. Rather, a city-wide celebration continuing the richness of tradition and providing an entertaining spectacle to the modern-day life.
